Chairman, Redeem the Vote

Dr. Brinson, of Montgomery, AL, is the founder and chairman of Redeem the Vote. Founded in 2003, Dr Brinson and his wife Pamela, started the nonprofit organization to improve voter registration and participation among young people of faith. During the 2000 election, evangelical participation was estimated to be limited by 4 million voters who had been disenfrancised. During the 2004 election, Redeem the Vote registered over 78,000 people, outpacing all other faith based voter outreach efforts combined. Subsequent data complied by the Pew Foundation and USA Today confirmed that the value voters and increased participation among people of faith significantly influenced the election, with Redeem the Vote being one of the most influential. USA Today cited Redeem the Vote as one of the top 10 events involving election year entertainment. A total of 2500 radio stations broadcast public service announcements for Redeem the Vote.

Dr Brinson has been widely sought for his counsel and strategy on lobbying and voter motivation among both republican and democratic strategists. Redeem the vote has been featured on CNN with Paula Zahn, Hannity Radio Show, Joe Farah World Net Daily, Fox News, ABC Nightline, ABC Good Morning America, CBS Evening News with Dan Rather, CNN Inside Politics, and CBN and Trinity Broadcasting Network and FamilyNet. Print media include National Journal, Human Events, Washington Post, Washington Times, NY Times, Atlanta Constitution-Journal, Boston Globe, and San Francisco Chronicle.

This year, he has formed Redeem the vote Alabama to enhance and educate young people of faith on issues dealing with education and promoting education including public, private and parochial education.

Dr Brinson is a licensed lay minister and board certified gastroenterologist. Dr Brinson holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Valdosta State College and Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his internship and residency at the Univ of Florida College of Medicine and Gastroenterology fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia. He served as staff gastroenterologist at Maxwell AFB, AL from 1987-89 and has been in private practice in Montgomery since then. Over the past 10 years, he has served on the state board of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Board of Trustees for the University of Mobile, and served as health care advisor for former Governor Fob James of Alabama. He has been involved in christian music since 1999 bringing WAY-FM to Montgomery.

Dr Brinson is married to the former Pamela Bennett of Valdosta, GA for the past 24 years. They have 3 children, Christopher, a recent graduate of Samford University, recent White House intern for President Bush and law student at University of Alabama, and twin sons, Daniel and Philip, who are high school seniors.
